A 20-year-old man from Ang'orom Ward in Busia County was admitted at the Busia County and Referral Hospital after chopping off his manhood in a bizarre incident that has shocked county residents.
Jaffar Rashid dumped his manhood in a pit latrine after chopping it off using a kitchen knife he borrowed from his grandmother on pretext that he wanted to chop a mango.
He was rushed to Tanaka Nursing Home by his father after he emerged from his room bleeding profusely.
They administered first aid before referring them to the Referral Hospital. Rashid's aunt Maureen Juma narrated amid sobs that his nephew became frustrated in life after allegedly being sodomized by police officers from Nambale.
Juma said her nephew was also upset that life had become unbearable after his parents separated several years back, thus leaving him at the mercy of good Samaritans.
Rashid's mother Roslyn Fazila said his son could not stomach insults from his peers who branded him gay and a thief, adding that he had no single friend at home.
Busia County Referral Hospital Medical Superintendent, Dr David Mukabi said Rashid was out of danger with doctors carrying out emergency dressing to avoid infection of the chopped part.
Dr Mukabi said Rashid will require reconstructive surgery outside the country to return back his organ.
Women at the hospital who witnessed Rashid writhing in pain wondered why such a young and charming man would do such a thing.
