Popular Kenyan comedian Kimutai Ruto alias Propesa famed for the viral " Halo William'" was yesterday involved in an accident along Mlolongo Mombasa road.

Propesa declined to give more details though he clained everything was fine and nobody was injured.

CHELULE; Dire consequences to parents inducing children to ill vices

Nakuru Woman Representative Liza Chelule has warned of dire consequences to anyone who will be found guilty of inducing a child to any ill vice.

Chelule urged parents to take great care of their children during the long December holidays to avoid eventualities that may come with the festive season.

Speaking on Tuesday in Nakuru during a meeting with students who are beneficiaries of Masomo Mwangaza sponsorship program, Chelule asked parents and guardians not to leave the responsibility of giving guidance to children as seen in the past, but to work on giving the right footsteps to their children while at home before the schools reopen for a new term in January.

“My appeal to the parents let us take great care of their children during the long December holidays. We should not leave the responsibility of giving guidance to children as seen in the past” said Chelule.

With parents spending more time in the work environment away from children to meet family needs, Chelule said parents will have to ensure their kids don’t fall victim to gangs and wrong companies.

She appealed to school girls to exercise caution during the two months adding that there are predatory men who are out there to sexually exploit them in the name of love.

According to her, parents have a responsibility to teach their children good morals adding that most children are vulnerable to societal ills if they are not well taken care of.

BODABODA RIDERS LAUNCHES A CAMPAIGN TO END TEENAGE PREGNANCIES

Boda bodas rider in Migori County have launched a campaign to fight teenage pregnancies and early marriages.

According to Nation Media ,The operators, for long have been blamed for luring teenagers into sex, now promise to be on the forefront in ensuring all the girls in the region are protected from sex pests and remain in school.

At a sensitisation forum in Migori Town, which brought together the riders, police and education officials, the motorbike taxi operators resolved to form a team that will police members who prey on girls.

"We have taken the decision to join hands with others and stop this menace for the sake of the region," Mr Edward Nandi, the chairperson of Migori Boda Boda Association, said.

According to Kuria culture, circumcised girls, who may be as young as 10, are sexually mature and ready for marriage.

"After the cut, many riders go for the girls and end up making them pregnant," Mr Gregory Rioba, a children's rights activist in Kuria West said.

County Children’s officer John Odinya said apart from the riders, gold diggers have also been known to prey on girls.

“The riders use the proceeds to dupe the girls into sex,” Mr Odinya said.

He welcomed the campaign, terming it a step in the right direction.

“It is good to note that the riders have realised the problem and decided to be part of the solution. They should be supported by the community and anyone who cares about education,” he said.

40 Kenyan governors and senators are expected to attend the much-publicised diaspora summit

More than 40 Kenyan governors and senators are expected to attend the much-publicised diaspora summit to be held in Dallas, Texas on Monday.

According to the organisers, the leaders, most of whom are already in America attending the USA National Governors Association meeting in New Mexico, over the weekend agreed to a request by the Kenya Diaspora Advisory Council of Texas to "stop in Dallas on their way home to meet with Kenyans abroad and dialogue on Kenya's development agenda".

The conference, dubbed “A comprehensive dive into the Kenya Diaspora” is scheduled to take place from July, 23, 2018 at Holiday Inn, Texas.

It is organised by the Kenyan Diaspora Advisory Council of Texas, a brainchild of former Kenyan ambassador to the US, Elkanah Odembo.

CREATE FORUM

According to the organisers, the main aim of the summit is to create a forum for Kenyans living in the US and Canada to exchange ideas on how to develop county governments.

Kenyans in the US and Canada are also expected to woo the governors and senators to support their push to take part in elections back home.

Former Ainabkoi MP in pole position for membership to the Parliamentary Service Commission

Former Ainabkoi MP Samuel Chepkong’a has been shortlisted for the position of Member of Parliamentary Service Commission (PSC).

Chepkong’a will compete with five others for the slot reserved for a male in the PSC. According to Article 127(d) of the Constitution, the PSC consists of among others “one man and one woman appointed by Parliament from among persons who are experienced in public affairs, but are not members of Parliament”.

Chepkong’a is in the shortlist alongside former Loima MP Protus Akuja. Others are: Ali Farah (Mandera East), Lati Lelelit (Samburu West), Elias Mbau (Maragwa) and Stephen Karani Wachira (Laikipia West).

The six will be interviewed on Thursday next week.

Chepkong’a will be hoping to join Justin Muturi, Naomi Shaban, Beth Mugo, Adan Keynan, Benson Momanyi George Khaniri, Aisha Jumwa, Aaron Cheruiyot and Lorna Mumelo in the PSC.

BAD WEATHER FORCES A CHOPPER CARRYING JUBILEE GOVERNOR MAKE AN EMERGENCY LANDING

Isiolo Governor Mohammed Kuti survived a scare of his life on Friday after a chopper carrying him made an emergency landing in Nyeri, reports the Nation.

 Area police boss Issa Muhammud said the pilot of the helicopter decided to make the emergency landing due to bad weather.

The three leaders, who escaped unhurt, are set to join Deputy President William Ruto in Mogodashe for a fund-drive.

Reports indicate that the later left the scene using vehicles. Mr. Kuti, a former NHIF chairman, is a close ally of DP Ruto.

Last month, a plane carrying ten people crashed in the Abaerdares in what preliminary investigations showed that it was as a result of bad weather.
