A total of sixty pupils from Nakuru East constituency who got over 350
marks in KCSE will get full scholarship in their secondary education.
The
sixty pupils, 10 from each of the six wards in Nakuru East Constituency
will get the scholarship courtesy of the area MP David Gikaria.
This was revealed to the press at Afraha stadium during an exercise to give CDF bursary forms for 2016.
“We
have been doing this even in the past and the first lot that benefited
is now in Form Three,” said Mr Naftali Nyambegere the personal assistant
to the MP.
The beneficiaries must be residents of Nakuru East
constituency and come from needy families. A team from the office of the
MP usually visits the home of the applicant to verify that the family
is needy.
“It would be sad if these pupils were to fail to attend
school due to lack of fees and that is why the office of the Honourable
MP is trying the best to see they are admitted. All a parent does is the
shopping for the child,” explained Naftali.
Naftali also revealed
that the MP’s office has set aside Sh23.8 billion for the year 2016
bursaries which will be awarded to both secondary and college
universities.
